NACD’s Soil and Water Stewardship Week is April 28-May 5, and communities are learning about the importance of conservation.

Susan Schultz, NACD’s Education and Stewardship Specialist, recently presented "Where does your water shed?” education materials to two 1st grade classes at Maple Ridge Elementary in Madison County, Indiana.

Using the NACD Big Book, “Where does your water shed?,” available from the NACD Marketplace, students learned about the importance of water and the many ways they use water every day.

The classes participated in various activities to learn about groundwater, how much fresh usable water there is on Earth, and how many gallons of water it takes to produce paper, bread, hamburger, jeans and more. The students also received a level 1 booklet and bookmark.

Schultz also presented a program at the Indiana War Memorial for the Indiana Society Sons of the American Revolution's Auxiliary in Indianapolis, Ind.
