On Thursday, May 15, NACD CEO John Larson traveled to Nashville, N.C., for the Nash County Soil and Water Conservation District Annual Catfish Luncheon. For more than 30 years, the district has held a luncheon every spring to promote conservation efforts and to show its appreciation to the people and agencies that support those efforts.
The event is hosted annually by the Boddie family at the Rose Hill Farm. During Larson’s remarks to the crowd of nearly 200, he spoke of the importance of local natural resource decisions and priority setting by the conservation district board. He also shared that 26 years earlier he had been a temporary employee at the Rose Hill farm for four months when a family member had to be at Duke Medical Center for an extended period of time.
Larson also commented on how important it is for NACD to be connected to the local districts so we can accurately represent its members. NACD’s leadership works diligently to interact with state associations, partners, and members whenever possible to keep that connection. NACD thanks the Nash SWCD for the invitation, and looks forward to other opportunities for leadership to engage at the local level.
