The 2013 NACD Officer team held its first official meeting together, Feb. 20-22 in Washington, D.C.
The Officers participated in internal orientation, as well as a number of external meetings with partners, agency staff and lawmakers. Highlights included meetings with: House and Senate Agriculture Committee staff; Acting Chief of NRCS Jason Weller; National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) program staff Veva Deheza; and the Commodity Conservation Coalition (U.S. Rice Federation, U.S. Cotton, National Farmers Union, American Farmland Trust, National Association of Wheat Growers, and Science Societies of Agronomy-Crop-Soil).
During the visit, NACD hosted a welcome reception at its headquarters, which was widely attended by more than 30 key partners and stakeholders from the Washington, D.C. area. The Officers also discussed their priorities in a group interview on the BARN radio show.
