Video clips from the 2013 NACD Annual Meeting's Keynote Speaker, Timothy Egan, are now available online for a limited time. Egan spoke during the event's Monday General Session in San Antonio, Texas. Egan is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and the author of six books, including The Worst Hard Time, which won a National Book Award for nonfiction. The Worst Hard Time chronicles the unparalleled dust storms in the High Plains during the Great Depression. Last year, Egan was the main on-screen narrator for filmmaker Ken Burns' PBS documentary about the Dust Bowl.
One clip, available here, discusses the grassroots beginnings of conservation during the 1930s.
The second clip, available here, talks about the importance of conservation districts in preventing another Dust Bowl.
