From October 7-10 the Southwest and Pacific regions held their 2015 regional meetings in gorgeous Park City, Utah. The general session included a welcome from the Governor's office, a presentation on water issues and predictions, a regional conservation update, and other presentations from NRCS, BLM, and NACD Secretary-Treasurer John McDonald. On Friday, the regions toured Southridge Farms and the cider mill, which highlighted apples grown in the area and the processing to various outlets; and Brigham Young University (BYU) which showcased their onsite recycling center, landscaping and turf on the football field.
The meeting wrapped up on Saturday with presentations from NACD's Education and Stewardship Specialist Susan Schultz on the NACD Marketplace and how to get your district noticed; Clark and Brent Brown on soil health practices; and the Wasatch Conservation District's watershed restoration project.
Thank you to all who came out to Park City last week. A special thank you to Kristy Davis and the Utah Association of Conservation Districts for all their hard work in making the Southwest & Pacific region meeting a success.
