Last week, state association executive directors gathered in Flagstaff, Ariz. for their annual conference. The event featured networking, presentations, and local conservation tours.NACD North Central Representative Beth Mason worked with Stefanie Smallhouse, Executive Director of the Arizona Natural Resource Conservation Districts State Association, to host this year's conference.
The program included topics suggested by executive directors from around the country, including roles and responsibilities of executive directors, state certainty programs, and disaster recovery.
NACD CEO John Larson delivered the latest legislative news. Susan Schultz, NACD Education and Stewardship Specialist and Marketplace Manager, highlighted NACD education materials and shared ideas for educational and community outreach.
Attendees toured the Willow Bend Educational Facility and Picture Canyon. They also visited the ranch of former NACD board member and Southwest Region Chair Mike Macauley.
