“Conservation…A Safe Bet” was the theme of the 2013 NACD Northeast Region meeting, held September 15-17 at the Dover Downs Hotel and Conference Center in Dover, Del. Hosted by the Delaware Conservation Partnership, the meeting featured a number of tours highlighting local Delaware landmarks as well as urban and agriculture conservation projects; a variety of informative breakout sessions; and a line-up of state and national level speakers.
Delaware Secretary of Agriculture Ed Kee was the keynote speaker, delivering a presentation and video titled: “Delaware Agriculture: Farming The First State.” Other General Session speakers included: Michael Scuse, USDA, Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services; Richard Went, NACD Secretary/Treasurer; Mike Brown, Executive Director, NASCA; Carolyn Hefner, President, NASCA; Linda Brownson, NHACD; and Richard Sims, USDA-NRCS, Northeast Regional Conservationist.
Also during the meeting, the NACD Northeast Region Board of Directors met to review the ongoing work and upcoming activities of NACD.
